Regional Intermodal Transportation Center (RITC)
Guillermo Aguilar, AIA was the QA/QC Principal for the oversight of architectural controls as part of gkkworks’ staff providing comprehensive program management services. The QA/QC services were associated with the review of construction documents and subsequent value engineering for this multi-phase project that includes a Regional Intermodal Transportation Center (RITC) and connected facilities at the Airport. Guillermo worked with the design architect, PGAL in the subsequent modifications to the project, providing constructability reviews and value engineering.
The project provides an elevated multi-level RITC that physically combines a transit station and a consolidated rental car facility. The transit station portion will also provide space for Metro transit, Amtrak, local, charter and rental car buses. The RITC will be connected to the future Bob Hope Airport Train Station, and it connects to the Airport passenger terminal via an elevated covered walkway with moving sidewalks. The RITC also includes an integrated multi-level consolidated rental car facility that could accommodate a number of rental car companies and includes rental car counter space, public restrooms, vertical access (including elevators, escalators and stairways), ready-return spaces, and quick-turn-around (QTA) facilities on each level for vehicle fueling, washing and cleaning.
