Newport Coast Resort I Newport Beach, CA

As Senior Development Manager for Planning and Urban Design for The Irvine Company, Guillermo Aguilar, AIA oversaw the planning, design, and initial infrastructure construction of this hotel resort, and residential development on a 2,500-acre hillside terrain on the oceanfront, adjacent to the City of Newport Beach.

The project includes a destination resort/time share development, a 36-hole championship golf course, and other visitor-serving facilities such as a 100,000 square foot retail village. Additionally, several housing developments were planned for over 2,000 units in several cluster configurations and home sites overlooking the golf course.

The Master Plan includes the restoration of wetlands, creeks, and canyons adjacent to the development, and the dedication of 2,500 acres for a natural state park, which was approved by the County of Orange and the Coastal Commission.

While at The Irvine Company, Guillermo was handpicked as the Project Director/Master Planner for this project’s final plan of development by the company’s Vice Chairman, Mr. Ray Watson. Among other tasks, Guillermo oversaw a pool of over 40 professional consultants including infrastructure engineers, land planners, architects, landscape architects, traffic and geotechnical consultants.
